Referring to an IPSOS-BVA survey showing that 84% of French people believe that valuing referees contributes to protecting sports, referees will wear this shirt, notably during the final of the French Football Cup on Friday.
The union of all fields. From May 22nd to June 27th, referees of the finals of the main French collective sports championships, for both men and women, will wear a distinctive shirt. They will all be adorned with the number 84, in reference to data from an IPSOS-BVA survey, commissioned for the La Poste Refereeing Days, which will take place in October. According to this survey, 84% of French people believe that valuing referees contributes to protecting sports.
The final of the French Football Cup, between Nice and Lens at the Stade de France on Friday, May 22nd, will be the first event to host the operation, sponsored by La Poste, while the final of the Elite Women’s Rugby Championship will be the last, on June 27th in Biarritz. The initiative, consisting of a total of eight events, aims to denounce the recurrent incivilities suffered by referees, regardless of the sport.
