Seven teams will head off to a European battle after the final of the Coupe de France won by RC Lens against OGC Nice (3-1). The names of the French clubs qualified for European competition next season are now known.

Paris Saint-Germain, RC Lens, and Lille qualify directly for the group stage of the Champions League, while Lyon will have to go through the playoffs in the heart of August. Fifth in the Ligue 1 standings, Olympique de Marseille will play in the Europa League.

The victory of Lens in the Coupe de France also brings two additional happy teams this Friday night. Qualifying for the Conference League thanks to their sixth-place finish in the championship, Stade Rennais secures a ticket to the Europa League due to the success of Pierre Sage’s men. This also allows AS Monaco to secure a spot in the playoffs for the C4.

French Clubs Qualified for European Competitions: Champions League: Paris, Lens, Lille Champions League Playoffs: Lyon Europa League: Marseille, Rennes Conference League Playoffs: Monaco

It’s worth noting that a victory for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on May 30th in Budapest against Arsenal will not free up a new qualifying spot in Europe for another French club.

This spot will go to the club with the best UEFA coefficient among those involved in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League in the national champions route. Last season, Olympiacos was directly qualified for the Champions League.
