INTERVIEW – According to the geopolitical analyst, European elites and people have internalized the discourse of the “new predators,” which suggests that our continent has exited history, as analyzed in his new book.
François Heisbourg is a special advisor to the Foundation for Strategic Research and has presided over the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London and the Centre for Security Policy in Geneva. LE FIGARO. – After Ukraine, is the war in Iran, with its extension into Ormuz, a new accelerator of the confrontation between autocratic regimes and democracies? Does it strengthen – for now – the “predators” of the anti-Western and anti-European camp?
FRANÇOIS HEISBOURG. – Iran, for now, comes out strengthened from this war. Tehran is setting the pace, which was not foreseen by the initiators of the conflict, the United States and Israel.
