Violence in schools in Toulouse: the trial of the mother accused has been postponed due to a lack of representation of the underage victims. Released under judicial supervision, she remains prohibited from approaching Clémence-Isaure College.

Five days after a mother, Fatma, and her two children entered Clémence-Isaure College in the Saint-Cyprien district of Toulouse armed and assaulted two female students and a supervisor, the tension does not seem to have subsided.

The accused in the dock

After spending the weekend in custody, the accused, a 44-year-old woman, was supposed to be judged in immediate appearance at the Toulouse criminal court on Monday.

The college director and the lawyer of the supervisor, who was also assaulted by the defendant, Me Jocelyn Momasso Momasso, were present at the hearing.

Victims at the heart of the debate

However, as the debates were opening, President Géraud Saint-Supéry was surprised by the absence of the underage victims. “Why was an ad hoc administrator not appointed?” questioned the magistrate.

For the latter, as well as for the assessors, this absence is likely to jeopardize the children’s interests. The court therefore ordered the trial to be postponed to a later date.

No criminal record

The absence of a criminal record for Fatma, as well as the guarantees of representation provided by her lawyer, Me Ismaël Meziti, led the court to release the young woman and place her under judicial supervision.

Until June 18, she must reside at her partner’s home in Rochefort (Charente-Maritime). Any contact with the victims is prohibited. Moreover, she is not allowed to go near Clémence-Isaure College.
