During an evening, the Eden Cinema will be transformed into a theater!

An unprecedented meeting of the arts born from an original collaboration between two passionate men, Jean-Marie Charvet, the owner of the Menton cinema, and Jean-Yves Saliou from the cultural association “Les Esterelles.”

“Taking arts out of their contexts” is the motto behind their unique approach to showcasing art, music, and theater in unexpected places. Jean-Yves Saliou explains, “For over ten years, we have been presenting shows in unconventional locations such as museums, parks, gardens, restaurants, rooftops, art galleries, and cinemas in order to expose the arts to the public, whether they are connoisseurs or not.”

For the past two years, their company has been producing shows in cinemas in Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël, managed by Jean-Marie Charvet. Encouraged by the success, they are now extending the concept to Menton.

Their first event in Menton, serving as a test, involves transforming the cinema screening room into a theater space complete with a stage, curtains, lights, and decorations. Despite the challenge of limited space at the Eden Cinema, they are confident in their ability to adapt and create a unique experience for the audience.

This Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., the main theater at Eden will host a performance of the comedy “Le Bal des Couillons,” written by Emmanuel Eberlé and presented by the Niçois company “Untel production” featuring artists Dominique Remy and Alain Pascal Casero.

The story unfolds between a sophisticated Parisian lawyer and a rustic farmer in rural France. The unlikely encounter promises a humorous and entertaining evening that bridges the gap between city and countryside.

If the experience proves successful, a theatrical program could be launched at Eden as early as September, along with shows for young audiences during school holiday periods.

Guided by the motto “Taking arts out of their contexts,” this collaboration promises to bring a refreshing and entertaining new dimension to the Menton arts scene.
