In response to serious allegations of rape made by Flavie Flament, Patrick Bruel has decided to speak out on Instagram. He explains that he completely disagrees with the television host with whom he had a brief romantic relationship.
Faced with the serious accusations brought against him by Flavie Flament, who claims to have been a victim of rape by him when she was still a minor, Patrick Bruel chose to use his social networks to share his own version of the events. This statement comes 48 hours after the explosive statements made by the presenter, who firmly denounced: “A man who plundered my adolescence. I am filing a complaint against Patrick Bruel for rape.” While the artist is already the target of multiple legal proceedings for alleged sexual assaults and rapes, his legal counsel had immediately refuted these allegations. Now, it is the singer himself who is speaking out publicly, explaining that he had “hesitated a lot before speaking out” given the magnitude of the situation.

The singer made a point of contextualizing his past relationships with the accuser, referring to a short-lived and mutually accepted liaison during the nineties, when their respective professional paths crossed. He unequivocally rejects any notion of reprehensible behavior, chemical submission, or psychological violence, stating that he was totally stunned by the presenter’s turnaround. He insists that “there was no rape, no drugs. I never mistreated her, abandoned her outside a ‘sordid hotel’ (…) I do not understand why, suddenly today, Flavie Flament is telling a different and sordid story, and is filing a complaint against me. I simply know that this story is false.”

Beyond this specific case, the artist defended himself in a more general manner against all the testimonies aimed at him, vehemently denying having taken advantage of his position of power or celebrity to abuse anyone. While acknowledging that the fifteen-year generational gap between him and Flavie Flament might legitimately raise questions in our time, he refutes any abuse of power. His defense remains steadfast, as evidenced by his written statements: “I have never forced a woman. I have never drugged, manipulated, or sought to subjugate anyone. I have never used my fame to abuse anyone or obtain non-consensual relationships.” Eager to continue his artistic commitments despite the media storm, he now entrusts the competent authorities to shed light on this matter.
