David Beckham billionaire at 51: British footballer makes history with record fortune

At 51 years old, David Beckham has reached a milestone that no other British athlete has achieved before: the billion-dollar mark. According to The Sunday Times Rich List, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder now has an estimated fortune of about 1.4 billion euros (with Victoria Beckham). This staggering figure ranks him at 141st among the richest people in the UK in 2025, far ahead of King Charles III who knighted him on November 4th at Windsor Castle.

What makes this fortune particularly impressive is that it no longer relies solely on football. While David Beckham had a brilliant career on the field, the majority of the family’s current wealth comes from elsewhere. Victoria and her cosmetics brand, as well as their production company behind the Netflix documentary about the Beckham family, have contributed to this wealth. Add to that a slew of commercial deals with giants like Adidas, Pepsi, Armani, and the Las Vegas Sands hotel group, and you begin to understand how these amounts are reached!

But the real wealth accelerator that has significantly boosted the family’s fortunes in recent years is Inter Miami. The American football club, co-founded by Beckham in 2018, in which he holds about 26% stake, has gained global prominence since the arrival of Lionel Messi. The franchise is now worth a staggering sum, and its value continues to rise.

David Beckham is not the only one making headlines in the 2026 ranking. The famous Oasis band leaders, Noel and Liam Gallagher, make their debut in the Sunday Times Rich List, with a combined fortune estimated at about 440 million euros. Their reunion tour last year generated nearly 470 million euros in revenue, helping to overcome years of sibling rivalry.

Among the other well-established musicians on the list, Paul McCartney remains the richest with over 1.2 billion euros, followed by Elton John and the duo of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen also fare well, thanks in part to the sale of the group’s catalog in 2024 for nearly 1.2 billion euros, the largest music catalog transaction in history.

The Rich List 2026 not only showcases the dizzying fortunes of the country but also highlights a less glamorous reality: the number of billionaires in the UK has decreased by twenty units in four years. Many have chosen to move abroad, following a series of tax hikes, a capital flight that is starting to worry British economists.

For David Beckham, these tax considerations may seem distant. The man who made headlines last year for his hair escapades and his family’s ongoing feud is now at the helm of an empire beyond imagination. Not bad for a kid from Leytonstone who just dreamed of playing football!
