A trial against Harvey Weinstein in New York has ended without a unanimous jury decision, leading the judge to declare a mistrial. The former Hollywood producer, who has been convicted in other cases, remains in prison. The case involved accusations by Jessica Mann, a former aspiring actress who claims she was raped in a Manhattan hotel room in March 2013.

Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg expressed disappointment in the outcome, stating that the plaintiff has been seeking justice for over ten years. The prosecution indicated that they will decide on next steps in consultation with Ms. Mann and taking into account Weinstein’s pending criminal conviction. This was the third trial related to this case, following the cancellation of the 2020 conviction in 2024 and the previous jury’s inability to reach a verdict in 2025.

During her testimony, Jessica Mann described at the time feeling it was a “miracle” that such a influential man wanted to be her “mentor.” The defense argues that the sexual relationship was consensual. Weinstein’s lawyers stated that the prosecution should stop retrying the same case and that after two juries failed to reach a unanimous decision, there is reasonable doubt.

Harvey Weinstein, 74, is also contesting a 2023 conviction in California for the rape of a European actress. In New York, he was convicted last year for the sexual assault of Miriam Haley in 2006, a decision he is appealing. Since 2017, over 80 women have accused the former Miramax co-founder of sexual violence.
