They are accused of entering a middle school in the Saint-Cyprien district of Toulouse to assault a student. A mother and her two children, aged 15 and 17, are facing legal charges. The son was the one carrying the knife, but the mother is currently in prison, awaiting her appearance before a judge.
In a statement released this Friday, the Toulouse prosecutor’s office announced that the mother of the family, arrested on Wednesday, May 13 with a bladed weapon at the Clémence Isaure middle school in Toulouse, has been indicted. Her two children, a 17-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son, have already appeared before a juvenile judge.
The three of them entered the school on Wednesday morning to assault a student they suspected of bullying their 11-year-old son and younger brother. The 15-year-old boy then attempted to use a knife against another boy at the same school, who turned out not to be the actual target. A supervisor intervened.
The Toulouse prosecutor’s office did not mention any physical injuries to the victims. The family was apprehended by the police shortly after and placed in custody. They deny using a knife.
The 44-year-old mother will be tried in an immediate appearance on Monday, May 18, and she is charged with violence and intrusion with a weapon in a school establishment. She remains in custody pending her hearing. Her son and daughter, on the other hand, have met with a juvenile judge, placed under judicial control, and will have to comply with the educational measures imposed by the judge.
