In the evening of May 10, 2026, Donald Trump, President of the United States, declared the Iranian response to Washington’s proposals as “totally unacceptable.” Meanwhile, Tehran denounced the “excessive demands.”
The situation remains tense between the United States and Iran, with another heated exchange between Washington and Tehran on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
President Donald Trump described the Iranian response to Washington’s proposal to end their conflict as “totally unacceptable,” while Tehran criticized the “excessive demands” that would amount to a capitulation, according to Iranian official media.
These comments come after two days of relative calm, despite hostile drones being reported by several Gulf countries on Sunday. The Strait of Hormuz was the center of clashes and tensions last week, despite a ceasefire mediated by Pakistan at the beginning of April.
Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the response from the “so-called representatives of Iran” on his social network, calling it “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.”
An Iranian official, quoted by Tasnim news agency, indicated that Trump’s reaction is of little importance. Tehran rejected the latest American proposal, citing the need to prepare proposals for the benefit of the Iranian nation.
Iran emphasized the importance of being reimbursed for damages caused by the war initiated by US and Israeli bombings on February 28. They also highlighted concerns about navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian response also demanded an end to hostilities on all fronts, especially in Lebanon, where Israel continues its military campaign.
Over 2,700 people, including children, rescuers, and journalists, have been killed by the Israeli military in Lebanon since March 2. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the war in Iran is not over, emphasizing the need to remove Tehran’s enriched uranium stock and military capabilities from Iran’s allied militias.
