From February 9 to March 20, 2026, the theater company Les Rasants was in residence at Feuchères College in Nîmes. To close these weeks of work and exchanges with the 4th grade class, actresses Marion Jouandon and Vanessa Mattioli read a text titled “The Cabaret of the Last” from their latest show, “The Last”.
On Wednesday, May 7 at 11 am, Mr. Mayeux’s music class gathered in the CDI at Feuchères College. In front of the students, Marion Jouandon and Vanessa Mattioli stood side by side with sheets in front of them, ready to be read.
For nearly an hour, the two actresses embodied their text under the attentive gaze of the students. They tackled major societal issues such as domestic violence, emancipation, artificial intelligence, from a feminist perspective, which moved some students emotionally. Marion Jouandon points out, “I think inevitably, today, this awareness of violence against women, they are living in it. It’s just about opening up the conversation and allowing them to talk about it.”
At the end of their performance, the two women addressed the students directly in a meaningful open letter. They emphasized the need to avoid violence in society and to look at others differently in order to create a more harmonious environment because life is not always gentle.
Part of the “Artists in College” program initiated by the Gard Department Council, the students had the chance to work on a concrete artistic project under professional guidance. They participated in writing workshops, text recordings, and filming alongside the directors and authors. The project was enriching for both students and artists.
Marion Jouandon and Vanessa Mattioli will present their show “Advice for a Young Wife” from July 4 to 25 at 5:30 pm in the 10th Avenue hall in Avignon. This new show follows the themes of their previous work, exploring the humorous yet harsh reality of the education young women receive to become good wives.
