The World Cup starts in a month. The Czech Republic communicated on Tuesday a preliminary selection of 54 players transmitted by coach Miroslav Koubek. Among the players likely to participate in the North American World Cup are Lyon’s Pavel Sulc (25 years old) and Adam Karabec (22 years old).
Pavel Sulc, who scored a splendid goal in the playoffs, will be in the final list, the communication date of which has not yet been specified. Adam Karabec, who is regularly called up, is further behind. As a reminder, participating teams in the 2026 World Cup have until June 1st to submit a final list of 23 to 26 players.
After a first participation 20 years ago, the Czech Republic looks set to participate in its second World Cup, with a fairly open group on the schedule, as South Korea, South Africa, and Mexico are also present.
Tagliafico among the 55 Argentinian preselectees
It is also worth noting the preselection of Nicolas Tagliafico with Argentina. The left-back, a world champion in 2022, is included in a list of 55 names where four other Ligue 1 players appear, Marseille’s Rulli, Medina, and Balerdi, as well as Strasbourg’s Barco.
The Albiceleste will face Algeria, Austria, and Jordan in Group J, and therefore have good chances of advancing to the finals to defend their title, in what is expected to be Lionel Messi’s last major competition.
