In front of an enthusiastic audience at the Balélec festival in Lausanne, French singer Adèle Castillon had a creative idea. She decided to incorporate their voices into an unreleased song after testing it out during her concert. Responding positively to the fans’ feedback, she now plans to integrate their reactions directly into the final version of the track.
Artists often aim to connect with their communities, but Adèle Castillon has taken it a step further. In a video shared on TikTok, she shared an unexpected moment from her recent performance at the Balélec festival in Lausanne, which took place in early May on the EPFL campus.
“I went to play my first festival in Lausanne a few days ago,” she explained.
On stage, she tested an unreleased track in front of the audience. “I was completely overwhelmed by the feedback on the song,” she admitted before sharing a snippet of the tune and the cheers from the Swiss audience. Instead of just riding the buzz, the former Videoclub member had another idea.
“So, the moment was so powerful that I thought: Why not put the audience’s chants in the song?” Adèle Castillon said on TikTok.
She was then seen back in the studio experimenting with this more “live” version, incorporating the energy and reactions of the audience into the final song. After sharing snippets of the track on her social media, she posed a crucial question to her followers: “I don’t know what to do, should I keep it or not?” she questioned in the video caption.
For the delighted fans who witnessed Adèle Castillon’s performance at the Balélec festival, the answer is clear: it’s a resounding yes. (mbr)
