Amélie Degenne is moved on stage. For several days, she has been working with the models at Caroline Hot’s Créa & Boutique, who is a designer of dresses and hats. The next day, on Sunday, May 3, the horse Peyo and his rider Hassen Bouchakour accompany the screening of the documentary about end-of-life, “Tomorrow on the Moon.” The events continue with the pace of the screenings.

Coyote Minute, an open-air cinema This Sunday, May 10, the Atlantic Cinema team will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its opening in the Coteaux Park. Daniel Taillandier, the founder of Atlantic Ciné, was initially the boss of the nearby E.Leclerc and operated the Olympia cinema on Avenue Gambetta from 2004 to September 2007. Without planning, this cinema enthusiast laid the foundation for Ciné West, which expanded beyond the west of France with locations in Nevers and Mougins. The group now has 13 cinemas in France, including those in Cognac and Royan, where the headquarters are located.

Numerous highlights will mark the weeks to come, including the presence of Coyote Minute. The company will perform “The Metro Goldwin Mayer” on Sunday, May 31. In celebration of the 20th anniversary, Atlantic Ciné will take to the outdoors this summer with a screening of “Marsupilami” at the site of the former St. Louis hospital.

Laser projectors Initially, the Saintais complex had seven screens. By 2014, it had expanded to eight, with the addition of a reception area for filmmakers and actors at premieres. In 2026, the deployment of laser projectors in all eight screens will be completed for a more stable image and energy-efficient projection. Each year, the establishment invests in improving the cinema experience and environment.

Arts and essays For twenty years, an informal partnership has connected Gallia Cinema in the city center, focusing on arts and essays, with the larger peripheral complex. Their programming is coordinated, ensuring that films like Almodovar’s debut at Gallia before being shown at the larger cinema. This collaboration benefits the residents of Saintes.

Across the Cinéwest group, the same approach applies to art and essay cinemas, prioritizing cultural diversity in programming. “The Metro Goldwin Mayer” by Coyote Minute will be shown at Atlantic Ciné on Sunday, May 31 at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Admission is €5. Phone: 05 46 92 49 60.
