In accordance with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of December 22, 2024 of the Political Bureau on major advancements in national scientific and technological development, innovation, and digital transformation, the provincial People’s Committee has implemented numerous practical solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of research and technology application. The province undertakes an average of 40 to 50 major provincial projects and around twenty local projects each year, with durations ranging from one to three years depending on their nature. These research projects cover various fields such as agriculture, industry, education, health, and social sciences.

In 2025, the province will implement 57 major provincial scientific and technological projects and 22 local projects. Many research projects focus on enhancing agricultural production and transformation, thereby promoting the value of agricultural products and developing local brands. As part of the An Giang rice brand development project, the province is implementing four scientific and technological projects to select promising and high-quality rice varieties to enrich the local genetic collection. Among these projects is the “Development of raw material production zones in Chau Phu district,” led by the High Technology Agricultural Research Institute of the Mekong Delta. Initial results have led to the selection of two rice varieties, Hatri 10 and Hatri 722, suited to the province’s growing conditions.

Residents of Vinh Tuy commune are adopting new pineapple cultivation techniques, leading to increased profitability. In the digital transformation field, a research topic focusing on “Studying digital transformation solutions for small and medium enterprises in An Giang province” assessed the current state of digital transformation in the province’s businesses and proposed suitable solutions to enhance the digital transformation capacity of agriculture, industry, construction, trade, and service sectors, gradually raising the digital transformation level from 0 to 2.

In the field of social and human sciences, a study titled “Study and valorization of Buddhist and Hindu artifact collections from Oc Eo culture in An Giang province” conducted a comprehensive study of the province’s Oc Eo cultural artifacts, particularly those related to Buddhist and Hindu art. The research results help clarify the historical, religious, and artistic value of these artifacts, providing a scientific basis for heritage management, preservation, and valorization. They also support An Giang’s UNESCO candidacy for recognizing the Oc Eo-Ba site as a world heritage site.

The province has also implemented several application projects aimed at integrating science and technology into production and daily life. Numerous smart agriculture, organic farming, and circular economy models have been developed and replicated. Projects applying information technology to management and production, as well as technologies for environmental pollution control, are actively being deployed.

Technological progress transfer has facilitated the establishment of many efficient production models for vegetable, flower, cash crop, and fruit tree cultivation. These models not only enhance productivity and product quality but also minimize negative environmental impacts, in line with sustainable development principles. Bui Van Ket, President of the Farmers’ Association in Vinh Tuy commune, emphasized the importance of modern agriculture development to increase agricultural product value and boost population income through the application of advanced technologies.

Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, highlighted the deepening scientific research activities in the province, closely linked to socio-economic development requirements. In the coming months, the department will continue to innovate in the state management of research, technology transfer, and application, collaborating closely with ministries, sectors, and local authorities to fulfill scientific and technological missions. The province will focus its resources on scientific and technological research and development, promoting their application across all aspects of life, and prioritizing the training and improvement of highly skilled human resources to meet the demands of scientific and technological development, innovation, and digital transformation in the digital era.
