A group of around fifty youth are participating in a week focusing on football, citizenship, and awareness of various everyday issues.
Since yesterday morning and throughout this first week of spring break, GFPLM is organizing the traditional “Citizen Footballers” camp. About fifty young people are registered, as mentioned yesterday morning by the structure’s president, Cody Soreau, during the welcome session. Divided into three age groups: “Brazil” for 8-10 year olds, “France” for 11-12 year olds, and “Spain” for 13-14 year olds, the young participants are supervised by club educators trained by the French Football Federation and also take part in various thematic workshops. Yesterday, for example, the police intervened on risky behaviors in public places.
Today, while the younger ones learn about good cycling behavior with the cycling school of Castelnaudary “La roue qui tourne,” cyberbullying will also be addressed with a specialist speaking to pre-teens and teenagers. Firefighters will also be on hand to discuss first aid, and the Smictom de l’Ouest audois will lead a green walk on the last day. The goal is to raise awareness about proper recycling habits and the negative effects of inappropriate adult behavior at stadiums or other gatherings. The youth will realize the amount of waste littering the ground behind stadium barriers or grandstands, as well as nearby living areas. To wrap up, each participant will receive a souvenir jersey and a certificate presented in the presence of parents and elected officials representing the three villages in the group.
