A 25-year-old man has been refused bail in court after being charged with the alleged domestic violence murder of a woman, believed to be his mother, in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales. Blaise McIntyre was arrested by police and charged after the body of a woman in her 40s was found at a home in Windale, south-west of Newcastle, after 8pm yesterday. Police confirmed their belief about the relationship between the pair at a press conference earlier today. “It’s believed the offender was the son of the victim,” Lake Macquarie Police District Commander Superintendent Tracy Chapman said. Police say paramedics tried to save the woman, but she died at the scene. “She had multiple injuries to the body and face upon arrest, the individual did make comments to the police,” Superintendent Chapman said. She said Mr McIntye had limited interactions with police in the lead-up to the incident. A household knife was seized at the scene to undergo forensic examination. Mr McIntyre did not appear via audio visual link (AVL) at his hearing in the bail division of the local court on Sunday morning, but his matter was mentioned. Bail was formally refused, with Mr McIntyre to appear in court in June.
Masked intruders Meanwhile, the state’s Homicide Squad is investigating a separate murder at nearby Argenton. No arrests have been made in connection to the alleged murder. Officers were called to Montgomery Street about 4am and found a man in his 40s with stab wounds. Police believe six to eight offenders forced entry into the home of the man before fleeing the scene. “It’s alleged the offenders were wearing dark clothing and face coverings,” Superintendent Chapman said at the same press conference. He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene. Police say there is no information about the weapon used. “It’s my understanding the incident was quick and at some point he was moved to the front of the premises it is believed to be targeted.” Police are urging anyone with information to come forward to CrimeStoppers.
