Todd Lyons was appointed interim director of ICE by Donald Trump in March 2025. The acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Todd Lyons, will be stepping down from his position within the agency, the muscular arm of the American president’s anti-migrant offensive, the Minister of Homeland Security announced on Thursday, April 16. Todd Lyons has been “an excellent leader of ICE,” Markwayne Mullin praised in a statement, wishing him “good luck in his future career in the private sector.” It was clarified that Todd Lyons would leave his position on May 31. Todd Lyons was appointed interim director of ICE by Donald Trump in March 2025.

No replacement yet

The Minister, himself appointed a few weeks ago after the dismissal of his predecessor, Kristi Noem, did not give the reason for this departure and did not communicate a name to replace him. The federal immigration police is responsible for carrying out the anti-immigration offensive desired by the Republican administration. Its methods, deemed brutal, as well as the deaths in January of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, shot dead by immigration federal agents in Minneapolis as they opposed their presence in the city, have sparked strong emotions in the country.
