The Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL) are taking a new step in the digital aspect.

In a statement released on Monday, April 13, the Hospices Civils de Lyon announced the implementation of a health data warehouse (EDS). “A true digital safe, the EDS is presented as a centralized and secure platform dedicated to collecting, organizing, and storing data from the information systems of the university hospital center,” explained the HCL.

This new tool aims to bring together medical and administrative data established during patient care within a single platform. This can include hospitalization reports, laboratory analyses, medical imaging, or data related to clinical trials.

The goal is to better utilize this information to understand diseases in the best possible way and optimize patient treatments. The HCL also emphasizes the security of the system. Names will be replaced by random codes.

Supported by the state through the France 2030 plan, this system aims to “optimize the organization of care and prevention and screening policies.” This step is part of the ten programs of the HCL’s 2035 strategic project, aiming to propel them into a University Hospital Center of reference.
