This Wednesday, the draw for the semi-finals of the Women’s French Handball Cup took place at the Handball House by former French international Camille Ayglon-Saurina. Still in the running, Metz, the defending champions, will face Paris 92, their opponent in the last edition’s final. The other match will see Dijon against Chambray.

There are now only four teams left in contention to lift the Women’s French Handball Cup this season: Metz, Paris 92, Dijon, and Chambray. Four teams that have had different paths to reach this stage of the competition.

The Metz players, defending champions, managed to escape the trap set by Brest, after a thrilling match full of twists that lived up to its promises (37-35). On the other hand, the Paris 92 players – the unlucky finalists last year – had to fight hard to secure their spot in the semi-finals. With a tied score (36-36) at the end of regulation time, the Parisian players managed to win in the penalty shoot-out (5-4). The Dijon players, on the other hand, controlled their match perfectly, winning convincingly against Saint-Amand (30-23). Finally, the Chambray players defeated Nice (32-22), thanks to a first half completely dominated.

Metz-Paris 92, the rematch

On Wednesday evening, under the guidance of former international Camille Ayglon-Saurina, the draw for the semi-finals of the Women’s French Handball Cup took place at the Handball House in Créteil. A draw that held surprises, as the first semi-final will see Metz facing Paris 92, in a rematch. After a clear victory in the 2025 final (32-18), Emmanuel Mayonnade’s team, second in the Butagaz Energie League, will host Paris 92, currently in 9th place.

The other semi-final will see Chambray (3rd) visiting Dijon (5th). The Dijon players, finalists in the 2024 edition, will aim to perform well in front of their home crowd to secure a spot in the final. However, they will have to be cautious of the in-form Chambray players, who dream of reaching the French Cup final for the first time in the club’s history.
