After several years away from the music scene, Rihanna has confirmed her return to the recording studios. On Instagram, Friday, February 27, 2026, the singer shared images of herself in action, leaving no doubt about her comeback.
The 38-year-old singer, who welcomed her third child in September 2025, shared a video on social media documenting her day hour by hour. The footage shows Rihanna with her Savage X team, her lingerie brand, from 9 PM to 1:30 AM.
“I have to go to the studio next, then make a Mardi Gras costume for my son after the studio. It’s the longest day of my life,” she declared.
The video then reveals images of Rihanna sitting in the studio, writing in a notebook with her team for hours into the night. At dawn, she returned home to apply rhinestones to her son’s jeans for his costume.
While offering a glimpse into her personal life as a mother, the studio sequence has attracted the most attention from fans who have expressed their excitement.
Rihanna’s presence in a recording studio is considered a significant event for her fans, as she had not released an album since “Anti” in 2016. Only the songs “Lift Me Up” in 2022 for the movie “Black Panther 2” and “Friends of Mine” for the movie “The Smurfs” in 2025 have been released since then.
The star has also been away from the public eye and focused on her private life. In a relationship with rapper ASAP Rocky since 2020, Rihanna has given birth to three children: Rza Athelston in 2022, Riot Rose in 2023, and Rocki Irish in 2025. She gradually returned to the red carpet at the end of 2025.
These years away from the spotlight led many fans to believe that she might never return to the stage or release a ninth album. However, Rihanna had already expressed that she was taking her time. In 2024, speaking to “Entertainment Tonight,” she stated: “I don’t want to overlook the songs that I have. I want to revisit what I have and listen to it with fresh ears, with my new perspective, and see what is relevant and what I still love.”
