Iran accuses the United States of sabotaging negotiations to end the war. In a conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi complained about the “contradictory positions and excessive demands” of the United States, as reported by Tasnim and Fars agencies on Saturday, May 23. Araghchi believes that these factors “disrupt the negotiation process under the auspices of Pakistan.”

“Despite its deep mistrust of the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran has engaged in this diplomatic process with a sense of responsibility and utmost seriousness, striving to achieve a reasonable and equitable outcome,” he added.

American media also reported that Washington was considering new strikes against Tehran. According to CBS News, US military officials are preparing for potential bombings over the weekend, lasting until Monday in the United States. On Friday, Donald Trump gathered his closest advisors to discuss the war, as reported by Axios.
