Agent Rogers smashed the front door to rescue the family trapped by flames. Thanks to his actions, no one was injured.
In a scene reminiscent of an action movie, Agent Rogers saved a mother and her two children, trapped in their burning home in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the beginning of May.
Footage from a surveillance camera outside the house shows Agent Rogers running to the second-floor apartment, kicking down the front door, and rescuing Mrs. Blaylock’s four-year-old daughter. She can be seen following him with her 10-year-old son.
Another perspective from a body camera shows the officer’s rescue, grabbing the child struggling to breathe in the smoke-filled house. “The officer simply shrugged his shoulders,” said the family mother. “Police are not trained to fight fires, but they swear to serve and protect. And that’s exactly what Agent Rogers did,” the Chattanooga Police Department stated in a release.
According to Chattanooga firefighters, no injuries were reported, and the fire was under control within 20 minutes of the teams’ intervention.
The family mother told local media that she “tried to thank (Agent Rogers) that night, but he simply shrugged as if it were just another day at work.” The family has requested donations to cover relocation expenses.
