“The next phase of the national team’s preparation is set to take place in Antalya, Turkey,” Football360 website stated, specifying that the team will then move to Arizona in the southwest of the United States to continue their preparation.
In Antalya, the “Team Melli” hopes to play two friendly matches, even though only a game against Gambia on May 29 has been confirmed so far, said Sam Mehdizadeh, an Iranian-Canadian match agent heading a company organizing friendly matches involving the Iranian team. The team had already held a training camp in the Turkish resort town in March.
The exact date of the Iranians’ departure for Turkey was not immediately known. The players also need to take advantage of their time in Turkey to complete the procedures for obtaining visas for the United States, amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.
