Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament President Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned on Monday, May 11, that his country was ready to resume war in case of aggression. Later in the day, Donald Trump deemed the ceasefire very fragile.

The resumption of war between Iran and the United States has never been closer. Iranian chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on Monday, May 11, that Iran was prepared to “teach a lesson” in case of further aggression, responding to Donald Trump’s remarks on the ceasefire’s great fragility.

“Our armed forces are ready to retaliate and to teach a lesson in case of aggression,” wrote the Iranian Parliament President on social network X, adding: “we are prepared for any eventuality, they will be surprised.”

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also warned later in the day that there would be “no alternative” to Iran’s “14-point proposal” to end the war.

“Any other approach will be completely ineffective; nothing but repeated failures. The more they drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will pay,” he explained.

A “completely stupid” proposal

American President Donald Trump declared at the White House that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran was “on life support.” He also described the Iranian peace proposal as “completely stupid” and “unacceptable” in front of the media in the Oval Office.

Donald Trump reiterated several times that “Iran cannot have nuclear weapons” and that he would continue to ensure this. “They think we will eventually get tired, but that’s not the case,” he explained, promising a “complete victory” for the United States.
