Iran has threatened to attack American interests in the region if its merchant marine is targeted, following strikes on two of its tankers. The United States is still awaiting Tehran’s response to its latest proposals.

“Any attack on Iranian tankers and commercial ships will result in a harsh response against American targets in the region as well as enemy ships,” warned the Revolutionary Guards, Tehran’s ideological army.

“Missiles and drones are directed at the enemy, and we are awaiting the order to fire,” added General Majid Mousavi, commander of the Guards’ navy.

These threats come after the U.S. attacked two Iranian tankers in the Gulf of Oman. American forces have been blockading Iranian ports since April 13, claiming to have “neutralized” the two vessels in the access to the Strait of Hormuz.

A military source in Iran confirmed that Tehran has retaliated and denounced a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire to the UN.

On another front in Lebanon, Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah continue their daily attacks despite a ceasefire in place since April 17, accusing each other of violations. At least nine people, including a girl, were killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday.

The situation has escalated tensions and sparked concerns about the seriousness of American diplomacy in resolving the conflict. This has led to a rise in oil prices, with the price of Brent crude ending the week above $100 per barrel.

The international community is closely watching the developments in the region, as diplomatic efforts continue to find a peaceful solution to the crisis.
