Israel is preparing for a potential breakdown in discussions between the United States and Iran and is intensifying its security consultations. According to Israeli media, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gathered the coalition leaders on Sunday evening, followed by the security cabinet, to examine various scenarios in case the talks between Washington and Tehran collapse.

Central to the discussions is the issue of the Strait of Hormuz. Israel is currently advocating for the maintenance of the blockade imposed in this strategic area and has reportedly sent a clear message to the US administration in recent days: not to agree to any easing, even limited. In Jerusalem, there are concerns that President Donald Trump may choose to ease the pressure to restart negotiations.

However, Israeli officials believe that an American gesture would not lead to a more conciliatory position from Tehran. According to this analysis, Iranian leaders would remain firm on their demands, while the continuation of the blockade would gradually weaken the regime by reducing its revenue and increasing internal tensions.

The possibility of a resumption of hostilities is also being considered. According to these sources, if Iran refuses any concessions despite prolonged pressure, the United States may opt for military action. In this scenario, Israel would advocate for significant strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure, making escalation almost inevitable.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that the US military has prepared operational plans targeting Iranian military capabilities in the area of the Strait of Hormuz. Among the targets studied are fast attack boats, mine-laying ships, and other means used to threaten international navigation.

About a week ago, Iran announced a new closure of the Strait of Hormuz, less than twenty-four hours after mentioning its reopening in support of the ceasefire in Lebanon. Tehran asserts that the passage will remain closed until the end of the war, while Donald Trump accuses Iranian leaders of trying to buy time.
