Roofs taken off like sheets of paper. On the evening of Thursday, April 23, nothing seemed to resist the terrifying black whirlwind. A few minutes earlier, a tornado chaser had reported the wall of clouds in the sky moving across northern Oklahoma (United States), forming two, then a spectacular tornado. “There is always a big tornado sweeping through the wind farm over here,” he describes.

100 kilometers away, residents of the small town of Enid, seeing the storm approaching in the sky, immediately understand the violence of the phenomenon. “Oh my God, look at that! Go take shelter right away!“, a voice cries out.

On Thursday, the town of 50,000 inhabitants was literally swept by the tornado. On social media, the governor of the state, Kevin Stitt, turns to God: “I invite you to join me in praying for the Enid community, which has been severely affected by tonight’s tornado.”

After its passage, a resident of one of the hardest-hit neighborhoods in the city discovers the devastation, deeply shaken. “Our houses seem to have disappeared, oh my God!”, he comments. Despite the spectacular damage, there have been no fatalities reported so far. The tornado is said to have caused only about ten minor injuries.
