Head to Head: Politics and Emotions
On the occasion of the release of historian Hélène Miard-Delacroix’s book “Les émotions de 1989”, come to the Goethe Institut on March 3 at 6:30 pm! Hélène Miard-Delacroix will discuss with her German counterpart Andreas Wirsching. The debate will be led by Nicolas Batteux, a researcher at the University of Lorraine.
Twice a year, once in Sarrebruck and once in Lorraine, this specific discussion format brings together a German personality and a French personality to address a historical theme in a direct exchange.
Meeting organized by the University of Lorraine / Maison du Franco-Allemand – Jean DAVID, the Goethe Institut, the University of Saarland, and the Institute of French Studies of Sarrebruck.
Speakers:
Hélène Miard-Delacroix: Historian and professor at Sorbonne University, specializing in contemporary Germany and Franco-German relations. She recently published “Les émotions de 1989. France et Allemagne face aux bouleversements du monde” with Flammarion Editions.
Andreas Wirsching: German historian, professor at LMU Munich, and specialist in contemporary European political history.
The speakers jointly authored “Ennemis héréditaires? Un dialogue franco-allemand,” a book that intersects their perspectives on political history and European sensibilities.
Nicolas Batteux is an associate professor in contemporary German civilization at the University of Lorraine and is affiliated with the CEGIL laboratory (Center for Intercultural German Studies of Lorraine). His work focuses mainly on the political and parliamentary history of Germany since 1945 and on comparative history from a Franco-German perspective.
