    TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Here are the biggest headlines of the week from the Sunflower Sports Report.

    Kansas baseball selected to host NCAA Regional

    For the first time in program history, the Kansas Jayhawks have been selected to host an NCAA Regional heading into the College World Series.

    KU is one of 16 teams hosting with a guaranteed spot in the 64-team tournament to make it to Omaha. This selection comes after Kansas won the Big 12 Tournament and regular season.

    The Basketball Tournament comes to Topeka this summer

    The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is hosting a tournament in July with games taking place at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan and Lee Arena in Topeka.

    The alumni squads from KU and K-State will face off against one another in a three-game series July 21-24 in these respective arenas.

    NCAA Division II Track and Field recap

    Emporia State hosted the Division II NCAA Track and Field Nationals with a few local athletes receiving All-American honors.

    Washburn and Emporia State had six athletes combined earning these honors throughout the three-day competition. The programs came out with seven total All-American honors.

    Washburn All-Americans

    • Lexie Fontaine-6th place in women’s 1500m (4:21.87), 8th place in women’s 800m (2:15.52)
    • Jake Muller-5th place, men’s 400m hurdles, 52.02
    • Justin Forde-3rd place, men’s triple jump, 15.94m

    Emporia State All-Americans

    • Brooks Lowe-7th place, men’s javelin, 69.01m
    • Connor Deters-6th place, men’s shot put, 18.42m
    • Stella Agbokpah-4th place, women’s 200m, 23.83
