One day before the start of 108th PGA Championship in history, the news has not slowed down in Pennsylvania. A quick summary of what you shouldn’t miss this Wednesday, May 13 in Newtown Square… It’s here!
Good weather ahead
The PGA Championship 2026 should benefit from particularly favorable weather, apart from a few showers expected on Wednesday evening, which could make the task easier for the players during the first round.
A journey with little onions
“The playing surfaces are magnificent. The course has not been used since last Novembera déclaré Kerry Haighdirector of the championships of the PGA of America. They closed it to allow it to regenerate after last fall’s games, and that’s why it’s so beautiful. HAS”
When you add 100 bunkers to a course.

After: 174 bunkers pic.twitter.com/tJQNwjkEOR— Jamie Kennedy (@jamierkennedy) May 12, 2026
The greens are complex. There are a lot of slopes, and the PGA [of America] can make flag placement really tricky IF THEY want to.
Michael Kim
It will be necessary at least that much for the course of theAronimink Golf Club looks tricky. The 11th hole, in particular, is a par 4 of 388 meters which constitutes one of the most difficult challenges due to a pond and its 20 bunkers, on a course which now has 174 (see its transformation above). But above all, as illustrated below by Tommy Fleetwoodit has a green “ diabolical “, the one with the most pronounced slopes of a course known for its steep greens.

It should prove more difficult to negotiate than during the last passage of the PGA Tourin 2018, when the BMW Championship s’était gagné à -20. “The greens are complex. There are a lot of slopes, and the PGA [of America] can make flag placement really tricky IF THEY want toexplain Michael Kim on X. The rough is very dense. It’s irregular, but from a bad lie, I don’t go more than 90 meters. Plus, the first mowing here is probably the tallest I’ve ever seen, haha. HAS”

The PGA Championship returning in August?
In 2019, the PGA of America moved the PGA Championship from August to May, a schedule change that has since drawn widespread criticism. Some players, many spectators and other stakeholders have loudly demanded that the US PGA return to August, or at least show flexibility in scheduling in Olympic years. The return of golf to Olympic Games was one of the reasons for this change, as was the fact that the PGA Tour moved its playoffs to August. “I honestly think we are in a good place in May. Of course, I’ll always look for what could make us better, but I’m not actively looking at whether we should consider pushing this date back or moving back to August.”a déclaré Terry ClarkCEO of the PGA of America.
Jim Furyk a un plan !
Jim Furyk took advantage of the 2026 PGA Championship, played in the state of Pennsylvania where he is from and organized by the PGA of America which chose him as captain of the American selection, to lay the foundations of an ambitious plan: to bring back the Ryder Cup to the fore and gain Adare Manor in 2027. For him, the Ryder Cup must in particular become an annual priority for American players, a change of mentality and course necessary according to him in order to reverse a series of disappointing results.
I like to say that even brothers argue sometimes. But deep down, they love each other and the mission is very clear when we play the Ryder Cup: to win.
Luke Donald
From son côté, Luke Donald rejoiced that Jon Rahm had reached an agreement with the DP World Tour. The question of his participation in the next Ryder Cup is now settled and the European captain has dismissed any idea that this could create lingering tensions within the European team. “An agreement ended up materializing quite quicklyat-il déclaré. The longer we let things drag on, the more it falls to me to help re-establish cohesion. It’s my role to make sure everyone is on the same page. I like to say that even brothers argue sometimes. But deep down, they love each other and the mission is very clear when we play the Ryder Cup: to win. They understand that it is important to put aside these feelings, these egos linked to different personalities, these personal considerations, if we want to succeed. I have no fear or doubt about the unity of the locker room. HAS”
He obviously thinks of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy who must compete in the first two rounds together (with Jordan Spieth). The Northern Irishman arrived with a Ryder Cup Europe stamped backpack…

Good foot, good eye for McIlroy
Rory McIlroy, who had turned back after a few holes Tuesday afternoon due to toe pain, was back on the driving range this Wednesday with new shoes.
Saddier prêt pour la fête ?
The only Frenchman present in this 108th PGA Championship, Adrien Saddier will celebrate its 34th birthday on Friday. We hope that he has sufficiently recovered from the back spasm which forced him to withdraw from the Myrtle Beach Classic last week, to celebrate him with a second cut in two Majors (he took 52nd place in the British Open last year) as a gift. His wife Marie and his little boy, Nathan, also made the trip for the occasion!
the driving range at a major championship is such a cool place. because at first it’s like, hey, look! Rory and Cam Young hitting next to each other!
which quickly becomes whoa, what’s Padraig Harrington doing pic.twitter.com/H32DwkWran

Another UFO at the driving range
Après Padraig Harrington Tuesday (above), it was the turn of Viktor Hovland (who is interested in UFOs) to stand out at the driving range on Wednesday: we saw him swing with his hands reversed.
always curious to see what Viktor Hovland’s up to on the range. today? hitting some irons cross-handed pic.twitter.com/x2wFlgPuUD

Le « rollback » mort-né ?
Cameron Young revealed that he had recently learned that his prototype golf ball Titleist Pro V1x Double Dot would comply with new testing conditions expected to be implemented as part of the ball distance reduction for pros in 2028. He said he has seen no loss of distance. The New Yorker has won three times since he started using the ball in August, and has recorded the longest drive along the era Shot Link on the 18th hole of TPC Sawgrass during his victory at Players Championship. Adam Scott also took the plunge, losing according to him less than 2 meters on the drive.

Alex Fitzpatrick and Rickie Fowler play her as Kristopher Reitan
Alex Fitzpatrickwho shone on the PGA Tour since he won his card by winning the Zurich Classic with his brother Matthew, took inspiration from Kristopher Reitan and changed putters for the PGA Championship. He adopted a model which has the same head but a different finish and also a different hosel:
Pretty significant change for recent PGA Tour winner Alex Fitzpatrick ahead of the PGA Championship. Switching from a short-slant to a plumber’s neck @odysseygolf #7.
Also a different finish, but merely aesthetic.

Like the Norwegian, Rickie Fowler changed driver, well only handle. Yet second in Truist Championshiphe opted for a shorter handle in order to reduce its dispersion.
Marco Penge good for service
The Englishman, who had to withdraw from last week’s Myrtle Beach Classic on the PGA Tour for health reasons, says he has suffered ongoing problems since contracting a viral infection in November. After suffering from a new sinusitis and dizziness last week, Marco Money she decided that « that was enough » and had an MRI to rule out any more serious conditions. “Fortunately, the exam results were excellent, so some of my doubts were cleared, which is a big relief. I’m fighting to completely get back into shape, and I hope I’m not too far away from it. HAS”
