In the former Fleury workshop in the Saint-Cyprien district of Toulouse, where Pierre Soulages designed the stained glass windows of the Conques Abbey, the artistic spirit continues with the opening of the Loft Studio Créatif.
If walls have ears, they also have eyes and can even have memory… At number 4 rue Benoît-Arzac in the Saint-Cyprien district of Toulouse, the artist Pierre Soulages was a familiar presence. Between 1987 and 1994, the Master of Outrenoir regularly left his native Aveyron to oversee the realization of the stained glass windows of the Conques Abbey by the master glassmaker Jean-Dominique Fleury.
In this same workshop, filled with positive artistic vibes, the Loft Studio Créatif has just opened to support project creators. From photography to video, including herbalism, creativity will know no bounds.
“Since 2016, this place called Studio Le Carré was mainly dedicated to events and training,” recalls Étienne Régis, who has now created the Loft Studio Créatif with Elisa Margras. “Now, the idea is to offer a space where creativity does not necessarily have limits, especially not financial ones, with attractive rates and a 30% discount for students. As I do a lot of street photography, I will offer a full day on street photography.” An art that allowed Étienne Régis to exhibit photos at the Venice Biennale in 2024. He is also currently receiving honors at the Cannes Film Festival with four of his photos being distributed along the Croisette as part of an operation by the magazine PePress.
All projects related to imagery, whether photo or video, and even sound, can come to life in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Loft, whose clever decor allows for various adaptations with multiple accessories. “And even for those who may struggle with their lighting, we are here to support them, advise them, and provide lighting on their behalf, drawing from inspirations because we want to push people to create,” adds Elisa Margras, who interrupted her architecture studies to focus on video and become a director.
“Educating people’s eyes is important,” believes Étienne Régis. “Today, in the world we live in, images are everywhere. When we want to be independent, when we want to develop projects, we may not have time to educate ourselves on that. We are here to push people and help them achieve their goals in this field.”
The Loft will be able to accommodate photographers looking to improve their skills, as well as musicians and filmmakers wanting to shoot a video or design visuals. In addition to providing professional spaces, training and workshops will also be offered to support creativity.
