The Sports Leisure and Culture association (SLC), created in March 1976 in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, allows for the practice of around twenty sports, leisure, or cultural disciplines. Approximately 350 members can benefit from a varied offer that evolves over time.
“We wanted to do something, because there was nothing. In the beginning, we were more focused on soccer. But, by talking and meeting people from Tarascon, we finally decided to focus on a multi-sports club, a Mutual SLC, with the main objective of making sports accessible to everyone,” recalled Michel Giovannetti, founding president of the association. “We joined the Sports and Gymnastics Federation of Labor, and we started with soccer and fitness gym, which were held in a room in the town hall. Then there was recreational tennis, and handball which took place outdoors on the sports field above Liberation.”
Gradually, the club established structure, activities diversified, the association opened up to leisure and culture, and engaged in a twinning with Saint-Alban in 2000.
