    A Sunday evening house fire in Johnston destroyed a home on Ridgedale Court, though a woman inside escaped safely after nearby golfers spotted the flames and warned her.Johnston firefighters were called to the home at 7:33 p.m. Crews arrived to find heavy flames coming through the roof, with the fire fully involved, officials said.Investigators said the fire began on the back side of the house while a woman was still inside. Golfers in the area noticed the flames, climbed over a back fence and alerted her to the fire, allowing her to get out before firefighters arrived.No injuries were reported.Video shared with KCCI just before 8 p.m. showed flames engulfing the roof, while KCCI’s downtown skycam captured a large plume of smoke visible across the area.Firefighters also had to contend with homes built close together in the neighborhood, raising concerns the fire could spread. Officials said crews were able to keep the flames from reaching neighboring houses.The home was declared a total loss.Fire investigators remained on scene Sunday night and are expected to continue investigating to determine what caused the fire.
