The 3rd edition of the Arléo festival begins this Friday, May 8 in Hell-Bourg, at the heart of the Salazie circus. Over the course of a long weekend, the village in the highlands transforms into an open-air art gallery. Around fifty artists are participating in the festival.

For Tanguy Servat, the festival organizer, the goal is to “bring art to the highlands, but not to import artworks. Instead, to offer artists from outside, from La Réunion and the circus of Salazie, to work together.” Several artists are housed in the former RSMA building.

Maeva Thurel presents a multimedia installation, centered around the collection of images of textures or landscapes of Salazie, reflecting the intimacy of our interiors. Amandine Maillot’s artwork, inspired by the beggar’s carpet, combines porcelain pieces with chouchou leaves prints, part of her ongoing research in ceramic textiles.

Chouchou also features in the displays of photographer Marie-Julie Ascon, with hanging chouchou vines adorned with chouchou juice prints of objects.

The festival will also feature musical performances at various locations in Hell-Bourg, like the main street or the old thermal baths, where an acoustic program is offered. Additionally, a music program is scheduled every day and evening.
