The Friends of the Céret Museum invite the public to take part in the 2nd edition of “Come Draw the Plane Trees.” A day of open creation for everyone, dedicated to one of the most emblematic symbols of the city.

True witnesses of local history, the plane trees of Céret line the boulevards and have been providing their characteristic shade to residents and visitors for generations. Their majestic silhouette and soothing presence have inspired numerous artists, making these trees an essential element of the Céretan landscape.

    Open to all

Therefore, it is natural that they become the central subject of this artistic day organized by the Friends of the Museum. From 9 a.m., in front of the cultural building, everyone can sit down to draw, interpret, or reinvent them, using their own materials or those provided by the organizers. “We want this to be a moment of shared creation, accessible to all,” insist the organizers. Before the completed works are exhibited, transforming the surroundings of the museum into an open-air gallery. All in the presence of Damien Deroubaix, the event’s sponsored artist, who will “enrich this encounter between art and nature.” Inviting everyone to take a fresh look at these plane trees that are at the heart of the Catalan city.

    An exchange moment

In addition to the event, at 3 p.m., a discussion with Damien Deroubaix, led by Paul B. Franklin, president of the Friends of the Museum, will be held in the auditorium of the Museum of Modern Art, offering the public insight into his work and inspirations (free with presentation of the day’s ticket).

Sunday, May 10th, along Boulevard Jaurès, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (free).
