The sales of fuels in France significantly dropped in April, according to the latest national report on fuel consumption, conducted by the Professional Oil Committee (CPDP) and consulted on Wednesday, April 29 by Agence Radio France, confirming a report from Les Échos.

Specifically, the national report indicated a decrease in diesel consumption by 18.55% and a decrease in super unleaded fuel (SP95-E10, SP98, and E85) consumption by 14.5% between April 11 and 20, compared to the same period in 2025. For the first 20 days of April, the decline was less pronounced: -13.88% for diesel, -2.40% for super unleaded fuels (SP95-E10, SP98, and E85), compared to the same period in 2025.

Regarding March, the data from CPDP showed an increase in super unleaded fuel consumption (+8.28% in volume), but a slight decrease in diesel (-2.73%), compared to the same period in 2025.

As of today, the price of diesel stands at 2.20 euros per liter on average, according to the data from 4,960 gas stations provided to the government in the last 24 hours. SP95-E10 gasoline shows an average price of 2 euros per liter, based on information from 4,298 gas stations given to the government in the last 24 hours. SP98 gasoline displays an average price of 2.08 euros per liter, according to the information from 3,885 gas stations provided to the government in the last 24 hours.

The main fuels had reached on April 7, the day before the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran after more than a month of conflict, the following prices: 2.02 euros for SP95-E10, 2.11 euros for SP98, and 2.33 euros for diesel. The symbolic threshold of 2 euros per liter was reached on March 9 for diesel and on April 1 for SP-95-E10.

This drop in fuel consumption in April doesn’t just affect motorists. Non-road diesel (GNR), used by farmers and fishermen, saw its volume decrease by 26.18% from April 1 to 20, 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
