Iranian War: Bazaar Merchants vs Cynical Promoter

After threatening to “return Iran to the Stone Age”, Donald Trump is now trying to suffocate its economy. However, Tehran, weakened, knows that time is running out.

Anyone who had the chance to visit the bazaar in Tehran in the past knows not to show too much interest in a desired carpet there. In diplomacy, as in the bazaar, Iranians often successfully exploit the weaknesses of those they negotiate with.

The Iranian regime survived intense bombings from the Americans, even after the religious leadership was targeted. The population, although hostile to the regime, is wary of another bloodbath like the one on January 8.

An impasse is evident both militarily and politically. Trump is facing declining popularity and pressure to seek approval for continued military action. Successes in repelling Democrat efforts are tenuous.

Instead of further military strikes, Trump has opted for a blockade to choke Iran’s economy. If the blockade successfully prevents Iranian oil exports, it could have severe consequences.

The US and Iran are now engaged in a high-stakes battle. Trump’s fortunes with Republicans and American public opinion are at stake before the midterms, while Iran faces economic strangulation and potential damage to its oil operations.

The possibility of a return to combat looms as a last resort for the parties involved in this tense standoff.
