The ORION exercise allows testing of innovative support solutions directly in operational environments. These innovations in areas such as human support (food, equipment, camp life), autonomous production (water, energy), and logistics aim to reduce logistical footprint, improve autonomy, and accelerate support implementation.

Materials presented during the VIP DAY showcase innovation geared towards operational efficiency with the goal of better supporting, faster, and with more resilience. Among them: – Water production from air, increasing autonomy and reducing logistical footprint; – Mobile energy solutions (photovoltaic, recharge), allowing autonomous and resilient support; – Projectable food hub for more effective frontline feeding; – Combat rations and innovative equipment to enhance soldier endurance; – Camp life materials and deployable equipment, lighter, more mobile, providing support closer to units.

To translate innovation into tangible capabilities for the armed forces, the Army Support Command works closely with French and European Defense Industrial Support Base (BISD) companies. They design, test, and adapt their solutions in close contact with the forces. Operational co-construction was demonstrated during the ORION exercise where BISD actors deployed and tested their equipment presented at VIP DAY. Companies like LOXAM, Drop’n Plug, and Bachmann showcased their equipment deployed during the ORION exercise to support the forces alongside the Army Support Command.
