Kevin Faux, 24, is being charged with capital murder after investigators on Thursday found the body of Ashanti Allen, 23, off 11655 Chimney Rock Road. Allen was eight months pregnant when she went missing on April 10, according to previous reports.
Investigators and Texas EquuSearch discovered Allen’s body around 9 a.m. on April 16 with a cord wrapped around her neck, according to court records. Both Allen and her unborn child were pronounced dead on scene, court records state.
Allen’s family said they received a concerning text from her phone on April 10, stating she was leaving and not coming back, with her mother adding it felt out of character, court records state. Allen’s mother then checked her apartment to find her vehicle missing and her purse appearing to be emptied out by someone, court records state.
Investigators then discovered that Faux had left for Louisiana, where he was later arrested, to meet up with someone he was speaking to online.
A GoFundMe was created by Allen’s brother, Xavier Gaines, had raised more than $10,000 of its $13,000 goal by Monday afternoon.
“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved baby sister, Ashanti Allen, was tragically taken from us,” the GoFundMe page reads. “She was eight months pregnant, and we were all so excited to welcome our nephew, Jaxon Allen, into the world. We never got the chance to meet him. Our family is devastated beyond words and now facing the unimaginable task of laying both our sister and baby Jaxon to rest.”
