The Sault-Albion Country Committee of the French Memorial Society is calling for volunteers in the relevant municipalities to carry out a thorough census and GPS location of the graves of soldiers who “Died for France or on the Field of Honor” in local cemeteries.

These new methods will provide better visibility of the soldiers’ graves, preventing their forgetting, disappearance, or illegal transfer. It will also serve as an educational and modern tool for the public. The data collected and brief biographies will be available on the national Geomemory website for public access through a QR code.

Looking towards the future, the committee, presided over by Claude Nalet, is committed to continuing its duty of remembrance “despite the decline of the international order in place since 1945 and the aging of a significant portion of our memory keepers and transmitters. We have a past, that of our country, and we must ensure its memory. This involves tireless work of historical research, transmitting moral and civic values.”
