The Ministry of Science and Technology will publish guidelines for verifying information related to mobile phone subscribers starting from April 15, 2026.

The circular comes into effect on the 15th of April 2026. According to the circular, verification of subscriber information for mobile phone numbers (including verification of 4 information fields: personal identification number; last name, middle name, and first name; date of birth; facial image biometric information) is carried out using one of 4 methods. However, the new regulation does not require all subscribers to re-verify. Subscribers who registered using a VNeID, identity card, chip identity card, or number used to register a level 2 VNeID account are not required to re-verify, unless changing SIM card starting from the 15th of June 2026. It appears that users have 30 to 60 days to update their service before it is blocked. A quick update, however, will avoid unnecessary inconveniences. Viettel had already issued a warning, especially regarding 9-digit identity cards: customers must update their information with the latest version of the chip identity card through the subscriber information verification function of the MyViettel app. For subscribers who registered their mobile SIM card using other documents (passport, military/police identity card) or received a notification message from a Viettel number inviting them to standardize their subscriber information: customers must update their information via the “Standardize Information” function in the MyViettel app. For groups of subscribers whose names are under other people’s names (spouse, children, parents, brothers and sisters): both old and new owners must go directly to a Viettel store to transfer ownership in accordance with the regulations.
