Saints. With a racket in hand, about ten patients from the Les Abbés Durand day hospital and the Jeanne-Mance medical center gathered on Thursday, May 21 for a sports meeting under the leadership of Fabrice Denis, an employee of Tennis padel Langres, which welcomes both structures every week.

Indeed, both Les Abbés Durand and the Jeanne-Mance center participate in health sports sessions throughout the year. The meeting on May 21 allowed patients from both establishments to share the courts of the Langres club, whether playing tennis or pickleball. For Cyril and Jérôme, both followed at the Jeanne-Mance medical center, “it’s a real pleasure to participate in tennis sessions because it allows us to have physical activity outside the medical center.”

Both men, like the rest of the participants, at this meeting emphasize that the weekly health sports sessions have “a real benefit on our daily life and our health, both physical and mental.” An analysis shared by the caregivers who were present on Thursday and more generally accompany the patients throughout the year.

The principle of ‘a sound mind in a sound body’ has never been more true, and from his perspective, Fabrice Denis also observes the benefits of health sports on the people who have been coming for some for over a year. “Beyond the athletic progress, it is also in their interactions and in their way of being that I see that sports is beneficial for these people,” he explains, rejoicing in having been able to organize this communal time between the two structures.

Indeed, for the remainder of the year, the patients from the day hospital come on Tuesdays with Maine de Biran, while those from the Jeanne-Mance medical center have sessions on Thursdays. On May 21, the focus was on sharing both sports and human connection for the patients who only ask to repeat the experience.
