Bourg-Péronnas has targeted players but may not necessarily be able to offer contracts that other clubs are offering, and will instead have to “sell” a development project.
Unchanged salary mass
The goal is to have a slightly more mature team, as FBBP 01 was the second youngest team in the championship this season behind Quevilly-Rouen. Bourg-Péronnas wants to add elements of maturity, experience and character to this youthful team. With some players who “already know the level of this division”.
And even if the club obtains administrative approval and has just come out of a salary mass framework, it should remain equivalent to the current season, between 650,000 and 680,000 euros. However, the FBBP 01 squad will be heavily reshaped in the offseason. Firstly because Bourg-Péronnas relied on many loaned players who are returning to their original clubs. Secondly, because some players whose contracts are ending will be approached and a majority of the squad is also nearing the end of their contracts. Lastly, because the season has been exhausting, with an unprecedented number of players being released or sidelined and for some, motivation is lacking.
Many rotations
For the upcoming season, young goalkeeper Mohamed Kara Seye, defender Quentin Lacour and midfielder Cheikh Koité are under contract. But it is uncertain whether Koité will still be with the team in the future as he is a valuable asset. Finally, key players like Roman Laspalles and Nathan Vitri have events in their contracts and can discuss extensions. With players being targeted – there will be around fifteen new recruits and needs in all positions – Jean-Patrick Morel, the former scout turned sports director of the club, has already been closely monitoring the market and working on deals, notably between National and N3. With approval from the authorities, Bourg-Péronnas could accelerate in this area as of early June.
