Susanne Keyl reveals the hidden potential of chairs in a surprising new fitness program for seniors. As a qualified sports educator, Susanne is well-known in the High Valley for her expertise in various sports disciplines. She now offers 14 90-minute sessions of tailored activities around and on a chair at the Rouvenac center. This program, aimed at promoting healthy aging, has the support of senior centers in Aude, the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the French Mutualité, and other public health organizations.

“The secret to aging well,” explains Susanne Keyl, “lies in maintaining autonomy, health, and well-being while fostering social connections and positive self-esteem.” Working with and around a chair goes beyond building muscle strength, flexibility, joint mobility, and gentle endurance. It also helps stimulate memory and strengthen the mind-body connection. Susanne emphasizes that physical activity with a chair has holistic benefits for the body, mind, and spirit.

The target audience for this new sports activity includes independent seniors and individuals with mild limitations. Through smart movement, participants can enhance both physical vitality and mental acuity, as highlighted in Susanne Keyl’s program.

By engaging in this activity, you will see your chair in a new light – not just as a mundane object but as a valuable fitness companion for healthy aging.
