In a victory that boosts morale, Maxime Gréboval won the Czech Parabadminton International in mixed doubles with Pauline Beaufourpelle in the SH6 category (for people of short stature) this past weekend. This win put an end to a long period of drought for the player.
“For this tournament in the Czech Republic, the best players were absent, so Pauline and I took advantage of it to win an additional title,” said Gréboval, who has been representing the Volant d’Oc in Lavaur for many seasons and has been a member of the Parabadminton Pole France in Pays de la Loire for two years.
“With Pauline, this is our 4th tournament together and our first victory! This is my 5th title, with one in singles, one in doubles, and three in mixed doubles,” added Gréboval, the 2nd French player and 11th in the world rankings. “I had been experiencing poor performance for a few months. The results were not there. I was not in great shape. This new trophy helps me regain confidence,” he shared.
Looking ahead, Gréboval has his sights set on upcoming opportunities such as the 2027 European Championships, the World Championships, and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. “I aim for at least a podium at the European Championships and a spot in the quarterfinals at the World Championships,” he expressed his hopes.
As for the Olympics, the Vauréen player knows he will need to elevate his game and compete vigorously to secure the only qualifying spot. He will face tough competition from Charles Noakes, the reigning Olympic champion.
