Albi hosted its first Footgolf Cup Open 2026 on April 11 and 12.
How was the weekend? “We only had positive feedback. The course was considered technical and varied. It was well thought out and the players had a great time. Cédric Bonnot, former world number 1, was present and praised this course as the most beautiful in France. In addition to the golf, the setting was highly appreciated in the city of Albi. The president of the Federation took note of this success and is considering hosting the French team that will play in the World Cup next year. It is worth mentioning that about ten international players were present at this Open.”
On a personal note, do you win at home, is it an advantage to play at home? “I know the course by heart. It’s the one I train on every week, so it was an advantage for me, but great players don’t need much time to adapt to the field. I had the right legs at the right time and finished 2nd overall but 1st in my category. In addition, I set my personal record. Finally, this allows me to qualify for the national final. Beyond the results, it was especially enjoyable to play against international players and to show a good image of the club and the city. I take this opportunity to thank the Albi golf club, which is an essential partner.”
You are back from the French Cup, how was the experience? “It was our first participation and we all had a great time. Certainly, on a sports level it was challenging but we had the privilege of playing against Gex, the best French club made up of professional players. We learn a lot in this kind of confrontation and we had very nice encounters with very kind people. That’s what we remember from this gathering organized in Vichy. Beautiful sensations and a weekend full of emotions. We are proud to represent Albi and we prove that we have our place at the National level. By the way, some curious people came to watch us play during our Open and we should expect additional players next season.”
