The Professional Football League has announced that the match between Nantes and Marseille next week will not take place on Friday but on Saturday.
May 1st finally off for the Nantes and Marseille football players! While FC Nantes was supposed to face Olympique de Marseille on Friday, May 1st at 8:45 pm as part of the 32nd round of Ligue 1, the match has been moved to the following day. This was announced by the Professional Football League on Monday evening in a statement. “At the request of the Ministry of the Interior and the Loire-Atlantique Prefecture, due to the gatherings on May 1st in Nantes, the match between FC Nantes and Olympique de Marseille, scheduled for the 32nd round of Ligue 1 McDonald’s and initially set for Friday, May 1st, 2026 at 8:45 pm, has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at 3:00 pm. The match will be broadcast live on Ligue 1+,” the LFP wrote.
Four matches on May 2nd
Marseille fans who had already organized their trip for this long weekend will need to find a solution to reschedule their travel plans. During this 32nd round, no matches will take place on Friday, but four will be scheduled for Saturday, as PSG-Lorient will take place at 5:00 pm, Metz-Monaco at 7:00 pm, and Nice-Lens at 9:05 pm.
A match with stakes
This match between Nantes and Marseille promises to have a lot at stake. The Nantes team, who will be playing against PSG this Wednesday in a postponed match, and against Rennes on Sunday, will still be mathematically in the running to avoid relegation, even though it will be very tough, with the current five-point difference separating them from Auxerre, in the relegation playoff spot. As for Marseille, they just had a nightmare weekend, dropping to 6th place, which means a spot in the Europa Conference League. They will face Nice this weekend with hopes of climbing back up the standings, and the trip to Nantes will be equally crucial, as teams from the 3rd (Lyon) to the 7th place (Monaco) are separated by only four points.
