The Brest club has announced the appointment of its former iconic goalkeeper Cléopâtre Darleux as sports director starting from next season. On June 8, 2025, Cléopâtre Darleux played the final match of her brilliant professional career, at almost 36 years old. Passing through Issy-Paris, Metz (twice), Brest (twice), and Viborg (Denmark), the French international goalkeeper with seven international medals, including an Olympic title and a world title, closed a chapter in her life. Now, as the mother of a second daughter since February, the Alsatian will embark on a new chapter by becoming the sports director of the Brest club next season.

“The president of BBH, Gérard Le Saint, announced it on Friday in a statement. “Cléopâtre will coordinate the different services to bring them to the necessary excellence to be among the best European clubs. Cléopâtre will also have the role of club ambassador, representing it or through entrepreneurial actions. She will collaborate with BBH to advocate for women’s causes, in favor of gender equality and the development of women’s sports, especially to increase its visibility in terms of communication and media coverage.” She will work alongside Nicolas Roué, the current sports manager.

Currently the undefeated leader in the Butagaz Energie League after 20 matchdays and qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals, with upcoming matches against Bistrita from Romania, Brest club hopes to win one or two trophies before Cléopâtre Darleux’s arrival. She is currently undergoing training at CDES (Sports Law and Economics Center) as part of her journey to become a General Manager of professional sports clubs. This would be a significant milestone in the Champions League and the first since 2021 in the league, where Metz has been winning everything in recent years but was defeated by Brest last January.
