Matthew Perry: a former Hollywood producer involved in his death sentenced to 2 years in prison

Fans of Friends will never forget the date of October 28, 2023. The American site TMZ had announced that Matthew Perry, the unforgettable Chandler Bing, had been found lifeless in his jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home. It was later revealed that the actor had passed away as a result of an accidental ketamine overdose. Two years after his shocking death that shook Hollywood, Erik Fleming, known for directing the film “My Brother the Pig” with Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes, has been sentenced to two years in prison by a Los Angeles court on Wednesday, May 13.

Before the verdict, the former Hollywood producer confessed to being “haunted by mistakes” he had made. “If there was a way to bring him back to life, I would have done it. I am mortified to have played a role, however small, in the death of another person, especially someone as beloved as Mr. Perry,” he added. His sentence also includes three years of supervised release and a fine of $200. He has also been ordered to report to the authorities by June 29.

In August 2024, Erik Fleming pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and a charge of ketamine distribution leading to death. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, following his arrest, the fifty-year-old admitted to distributing ketamine to the Friends actor, obtained from Jasveen Sangha, also known as the “ketamine queen.” Last April, a California court sentenced the dealer to fifteen years in prison and three years of supervised release for providing the drug that killed Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox’s close friend.

He admitted to injecting his employer with the drug that caused his death. His sentencing is scheduled for May 27.
